Have you tried running at the Best for Retina Display setting even though you give up all that screen real-estate in the process.

And have you installed the 14.2.4 update from MS which is supposed to include compatibility with Retina Displays.

You can get more screen real-estate (i.e., theres room for more stuff visible on the screen) at the expense of everything looking smaller, or less resolution, which makes everything look larger and easier to read but less also fits on the screen.
